Robert Dawson Soden was the middle child of 5 children, 2 elder brothers and 2 younger sisters.
Robert and his brothers decide to leave Ireland, Edward migrated to America he had two sons
children. In the 1901 England and Wales census Charles Soden States b. Ireland Co Cavan 1835
Robert Dawson Soden married Mary Frances Mortimer( b. 1841 in Linsin, Mullagh, Co Cavan, Ireland

Robert Dawson and Mary moved their family to Mt Beppo where they applied for a government selection in 1885.
In 1894 Robert Dawson took on the mail contracts around Cressbrook, Mt Stanley, and Mt Beppo district
Most religious services in those days were held in in the homes of the Sodens as well as the Somersets
The first rail could be removed so that Mrs Mary Soden Snr could be wheeled off a buckboard in a wheel chair
There has been a Soden family member on the board of Trustees since 1905 and still has a four generation

Robert Dawson Soden and his wife Mary Francis Mortimer , married in Ireland in 1862 and migrated to Queensland arriving 2nd July 1863. They arrived on the Cairngorm ship and are listed as assisted immigrants.His father is recorded as Charles Henry Soden and his mother as Letitia Kellett. I strongly suspect he is a descendant of the Soden family of Cavan CountyTheir first child Kate was born in Ireland on the 7/4/1863. Robert and Mary had 10 children in total and they were both successful farmers in the Mt Beppo District. According to Robert Dawson Soden death Certificate he was born on the 27/10/1837 died on the 3/1/1905. His father is recorded as Charles Henry Soden and his mother as Letitia Kellett. I strongly suspect he is a descendent of the Soden family of Cavan County.Born Ireland 27/10/1837 Fort William Virginia (inscribed on head stone) died 3/1/1905. Robert and Mary were a pioneering farming family in the Mt Beppo district near Brisbane Queensland.[Source: Roslyn McCarthy, great great granddaughter who still farms in the area. January, 2016]Thomas Soden and Margaret Soden,nee Purdue arrived with 3 of their children in Australia aboard the Adam Lodge in February,1840. Thomas was the first Governor of the Bathurst gaol,a post he held for 23 years without any leave. He commenced work on June 4,1840. During his 2 years at the gaol he bought a half share in a property at Dennis Island,George?s Plains which he called Athlone.

Thomas was among the petitioners requesting a village at Peppers Creek.
Before the church was built at Dennis Island,services were held at Athlone.
A death for a Thomas Soden died 1852 aged 72 at Hill End Bathurst,making his year of birth approximately 1780. He is buried in the Wesleyan Methodist Section,Dennis Island,New South Wales,Australia.
